ONE ROOM CHALLENGE – Week 8

ONE ROOM CHALLENGE – Week 8

Week 8 – The Reveal

We made it!! One space. Eight Weeks. When we made the decision to create the studio and share it as part of the One Room Challenge, we knew the project was a little more aggressive than the typical space and was going to require a lot of pre-planning, and pre-work. There were days when I wasn’t sure we were going to make it.

Come On In

Studio Final Reveal

The Sum Of The Parts

Looking back over the last eight weeks you’ve seen this space go from a shop through demo and back again to live a new life as a studio. Behind the scenes were meetings with inspectors, orders and coordination with vendors, and so many runs to the recycling center they stopped asking my name. There were design adjustments and back-ordered materials. We worked on the studio nights and weekends. We were tired. There were so many late-night bowls of cereal for dinner. But in the end, it was worth every minute.

We achieved the goals we set for the space. A neighbor who got a sneak peek described the studio as “soothing sophistication”. I couldn’t ask for more. I wanted a space where clients were comfortable and relaxed. I wanted to showcase beautiful style in a working space. I wanted to share what local and regional vendors and makers had to offer to create truly personal one-of-a-kind spaces. I also wanted a space that I enjoyed working in.

Making The Most Of Every Inch

At 240 square feet, we could not afford to waste an inch, and we didn’t. Everything in the Studio has a purpose, and most are serving double duty. The cabinetry serves as a teaching and sales tool, but they were also designed for maximum function. (Does being gorgeous count too?) The Samsung The Frame serves as an art display, a third monitor for client presentations, and a TV. The custom art over the map chest helps with sound absorption and can be used as a pinboard for samples. These are just a few examples.

In the coming weeks, I will continue to share about each of the products and vendors in the studio. You can also check them out here- https://trudismithdesigns.com/one-room-challenge-fall-2023/

I am grateful for the nudge I got encouraging me to do the Challenge, grateful for the encouragement along the way, and so grateful for the beautiful new space TSD now calls home.

Thank you ORC, Apartment Therapy, the Vendors who partnered with me, the vendors who sponsored the Challenge, and all the rest of the participants, we are all truly better together.

Please check out the rest of the reveals, and continue to follow the Studio reveal on Instagram as I highlight the products we choose. https://www.oneroomchallenge.com/

Until Next Time-

Trudi, This space is truly amazing. You can feel and see the attention to detail that you added to the space and how you took advantage of every inch for organized storage. We were happy to be a part of this project and are so happy that you LOVE your Revel Woods Floor. Thank you for asking us to be a part of this.
